A Priori Robotics: About
A Priori Robotics & Artificial Intelligence (APRAI) was founded in 2023 by Brandon Northcutt. After working for 10 years at some of the world's top robotics companies, he identified long standing problems that have been hindering robotics progress for the past several decades. One of which was visual perception. Robotics and autonomous systems have fallen flat in their attempts to replicate animal level spatial perception and spatial intelligence. This problem was the genesis of APRAI. Our first project code named BioDepth was presented at CES 2025 as a single camera solution to spatial perception.
Executive Team
Brandon has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Neuroscience from the University of Arizona. He worked as a Perception Research Scientist at Toyota Research Institute and iRobot for a decade before founding APRAI.
